Like a scary story told to frighten naughty children, Razor Highbinder is more imagined a threat than real these days. He has not been seen in years - since his epic battle in the Eastern Empire that cost him his left arm. Many people believed that the evil cleric died years ago, but a few - such as the Finder in particular - believe that Razor bides his time, waiting for the proper moment to overrun the world with an army of slaves and shadow creatures, dragging the world into eternal night.

Razor is not an elf, contrary to popular opinion, but a dark human with seemingly shadowed features. Scholars and researchers enhance his mystique by claiming that he is from a dead line of old nobility, or nothing more frightening legends or (at best) confined to a subterranean city called Dier Drendal. Razor's existence proves them wrong, but modern authorities, far removed from the past and the ferocious battle fought on the Eastern Empire, continue to deny Razor's heritage and suggest that those who fought him were mistaken. Razor has only one arm of his own flesh; he has replaced the one he lost with a shadowy equivalent, made from a shadowed elemental that he has bound to his body.

Razor commands Remia's presence in the Eastern Empire, bringing order to the kingdoms of the East. From his stronghold of Caer Dire, he supports the Shogun's legitimacy and brings about the rule of Remia to the people of this region.
