As the formation of the game setting has come into light, many questions have been asked for some of the details have been made. Hopefully my explanations below will shed some light about the subjects. A key thing about Remia to remember is though we are using many historical references, this is –NOT- historically accurate. As a request of the Admin Staff, please stop saying that the setting is incorrect because of how we have things set. The game has blended many different aspects and things have been changed to suit a gaming theme in which the staff has agreed upon. Your inputs and suggestions are highly regarded and in fact many things have been changed as more ideas have come up. However any suggestions should be done in a tactful manner and should not be to the detriment of ideas already in acted.
The social Classes-
The patrician is the highest social class one can achieve; however, the Equesti class should not be so easily dissuaded. In our setting the Equesti class is the more than likely ending place of many characters until the high or epic levels. The Patrician class standard is an income of 400,000 Denari a year. Characters may achieve this with time. There is 1 PC currently within the Patrician class.
1) Cathryne- from storyline transition
Patrician and Praetorian-
The difference between these two titles, though similar, is that the Patrician is a High Social Class, where as the Praetorian is a guard that guards the emperor.
Arms within Remia-
This has been handled as a very special subject, as there is much debate over it. Remia itself is a very thick political climate city. Within these walls one foul word could be your last. When the website is up more specific laws will be up, however for now, the summarized version is this. You –MAY- walk around with weaponry on your person. The moment it is drawn however, that’s where the issues become real. If you use the weapon to strike down someone the urban cohorts, or in severe cases, the Praetorian Guard themselves will come looking for you and you will stand trial. Again though more detailed laws will be in place on the website before the game is live.
The Color Red within Remia City Borders-
Again another disputed debate amongst those of us whom know history. For the sake of Remia RPG, soldiers will be the only citizen within the borders of the city and within the field of Ares, which shall wear the color of Ares. Red. Now this does not mean red trim or such. Red tunics, togas, and capes, are –ONLY- to be worn by soldiers. Anyone else in this color will be considered a criminal and punished to crucifixion.
The Remian Forum-
A detailed post was made about the forum and here we will clear something else up. The forum has merchants in it. It is a square area sitting in front of the senate house for people to do trade and what have not when the senate is not in session. The area for food there is similar to a mall food court in the sense that there are many open booths that sell food. There is a covered area by awning and 3 walls that allows for a more personal sit down and conversation. However for the most part it is an open area for walking, quick foods and dealings.
More detail for the layout will come with the completion of the city map.
Empire Points-
Empire points are the term used for points acquired on a charecter sheet by a player for use on their characters for the purpose of acquiring extra items and feats. We are all familiar with games that have similar terms or setups. This is ours.
Knowledge and Perform-
These skills shall be treated as follows:
Per every 5 points in Knowledge a new knowledge is formed. IE
Point 1- Religion
Point 5- Geography
Point 10- Dungoneering
For every 2 points in Perform a new skill is formed IE
Point 1- Violin
Point 3- Ocarina
Point 5- Drums
Character Flavor Abilities-
The abilities will add color and dynamics to the game by ensuring that each character of same level and build are not the same in essence. These skills will be obtained between levels 10 to level 12. IF one is not chosen by the level of 12, the character forfeits the right to the Flavor ability
Professions for Remia-
Some examples of professions easily forgot in this setting are the following
Herder- Herds cattle, oxen or sheep
Tailor- Makes clothing
Smith- Black, Armor or Weapon smiths.
Fletcher- Makes arrows and bows
Potter- Makes pottery
Jeweler- Makes jewelry
Cook
Winer
Brewer
Soldier
Sculptor
Grater- importer and seller of miscellaneous wears
Herald- Announcer of news and decrees
Senators-
Senators, both male and female, shall wear the senatorial white tunic and white toga shroud with purple stripping that shall easily identify them.
Woman within Remia-
Also breaking away from history. Woman in the Remian Empire have all the same rights and privileges of males of the same age and social class. Women have the right to serve on the senate, own land and slave, and even serve in the Legions.
Dominus/Domina-
These terms are not reserved for just a slave to master, but for someone of an inferior class speaking to a superior, except in the situation of a military or urban cohort member to another, there it shall be Sir/Ma’am.
